Medical treatment is not about being for or against.

In my post about lipedema orifices remaining open, regarding LUCN’s comment, I wanted to remind everyone: medical treatment is not a matter of being for or against. Medical treatments are studied and published. It is not about weighing risks and benefits in a vacuum; for any treatment or technique, you must understand what benefit that technique will bring, what risks it poses, and what makes the most sense for the specific case, context, medical team, and patient, including who will care for the patient post-operatively. It is not about taking sides, like when people say, “I am against bariatric surgery.” You are not for or against it; it is a medical treatment that requires medical indication and patient consent.
