Many patients and followers always ask about the differences between types of abdominoplasty.

They often think it is merely a choice, but in most cases, the indication is technical. Whichever type is chosen, internal correction of diastasis recti is performed. It can be done with or without associated liposuction; I am simply describing the pattern of skin removal.

CLASSIC: performed in most cases. The scar extension can vary, usually located in the lower abdominal region and around the navel. For those with laxity above the navel.

ANCHOR: performed in many cases of significant weight loss, where there is a large amount of transverse excess skin, requiring this removal to create a “waistline.” A new navel is usually created with this skin. The final scar is T-shaped.

MINI-ABDOMINOPLASTY: for those with laxity below the navel and very little above. The scar is located only in the lower region. The navel is released and fixed internally up to 2 cm below its original position. The scar is not much smaller than a classic one, and it does not allow for the removal of a large amount of skin.

CLASSIC WITH MINI T: when there is laxity above and below the navel, but there is not enough skin to remove all the skin below the navel, as in patients who have previously had an abdominoplasty. In the end, there is a small vertical scar, in addition to the lower scar and the scar around the navel.
